In the state of NY and NYC the law states that if you are fishing in freshwaters or saltwater and are at the age of 16+ you need to register youself in order to be allowed to fish either for recreational purposes or for consuming.

There are different types of licenses

There are three types of licenses. The first being Annual, second 7-day, and third 1-day. Each type depends on what the consumer wants.
Licenses also include the residency qualification. The Residency Fee pertains to all New Yorkers who reside/live in NY or NYC. The Nonresident Fee are for non residential people/who do not live in the state of NY or NYC.
The fees differ depending on the residency status of the consumer.
